Questions
Which channels will you record?
We only log channels you own or are authorized to record. The usual setup plugs the capture box into the audio output of your own radio. An optional SDR receiver is used only with your written consent, and only on your own channels. We do not scan other people's traffic.
Do you decode encrypted radio?
Not today. DidYouCopy covers unencrypted analog and clear DMR. Encrypted channels are coming later, and only with your written permission and your own keys. We do not crack encryption, guess keys, or decode a captured bitstream to get around them.
What hardware do we need?
A capture kit: a small box (a Raspberry Pi) that plugs into the audio output of a radio you already own, plus power and a network connection. It sends short clips out over HTTPS. You keep your radios and you do not need a dispatch server. Each site has its own kit. The one-time kit price is listed on the tier, and the Single Site kit is free on an annual plan.
What happens when we hit the minute cap?
Logging does not stop. Each plan includes a monthly pool of speech minutes. Voice activity decides what counts, so silence is not billed. Minutes past the pool are overage: $0.04 per audio minute on Single Site and Multi-Site, and $0.03 per audio minute on Portfolio.
How long do you keep recordings, and who can see them?
Single Site keeps audio and transcripts for 90 days, Multi-Site for 180 days, and Portfolio for one year. After that window they age out. People sign in with Google. A multi-site login can see the sites on that subscription, and each site's traffic stays separate from the others. We do not sell your audio or your transcripts.
How long does setup take?
Plug the box into your radio, connect it to the network, and sign in from the browser. That is the whole install for a site that can do it themselves: minutes, not a multi-week dispatch project. Email us if you want to talk through the radios you already have.
